Troutdale (Portland)

The great Columbia River gorge area. It had waterfalls, amazing woods, and of course the amazing  Columbia River. Also the Timberline hotel. We did the drive that circles Mt. Hood. We had a great RV site on the Sandy River. We grilled salmon for Laura Carol’s niece. We loved seeing her.

Check out the Timberline Lodge

20160708_152931A wonderful lodge built between 1937-1939. It has a unique intimate character. Opened by FDR.

Actually most Oregonians are extremely environmentally  conscious and wouldn’t dump pharmaceuticals into the water. When I first visited a campground in Oregon I saw many picnic tables with groups of empty beer bottles. A little tacky I said to myself.

A few days later the light went on. They recycle everything here. The campground has a trash bin, glass recycling, mixed recycling, and sometimes cardboard recycling , amazing  .20160708_103043

We’re at Forks, Washington today. Temp won’t get into the 70s. Different world.

Bullard Beach

20160630_113729We stayed near Bandon, Or (Coastal Town/Beer Drinking mentality).

An amazing rock filled coastline but cold. With a high during the day

of 60 degrees the mornings on the beach were just freezing.

I needed an oil changeand had to go to Coos Bay ( Cool Name/ Stinky little streets) to get one. Hungry we got a Flame Thrower Hamburger from DQ. OMG, six days layer, sucking down Imodium and Probiotics Im still the flame thrower, if you catch my drift. Blessed with chills, weight loss  and a soar stomach I’m wondering about ecoli ( not really) or salmonella.20160701_182534

Little Cooper fell out of the truck. He now has a plate in his leg.  We’re meeting many vets as we travel. Two weeks in splints,  two just wrapped,  x-ray at 4 weeks. So sad.

Oregonians are crazy for camping. They drive miles to a campground full of people, camp out of every conceivable vehicle. They walk the beach and love the experience.
