Watercolor OK, Destin a Bust

“Destin has beaches, its so wonderful.” Thats was the cry from several people that know Destin. What we want you to know is most of Florida’s beaches are controlled, bought and sold privately. Destin Fl. or Sandestin, I never got the difference between these two places, is affluent, over populated and controlled, that is very very tightly controlled. Florida doesn’t want dogs on their beaches. Most beaches require a permit. We found out that beach 56 in the city of Panama City Beach IS THE ONLY BEACH THAT ALLOWS DOGS . Wow Florida hates dogs , who knew.

That’s it the only beach dog are allowed on. This ain’t Oregon folks.

Destin the town with beaches, “forgetaboutit”

WATERCOLOR
A planned community

Watercolor is a planned community for the affluent that couldn’t be more understated. Pale, pale, wooden simplistic and amazing.

Watercolor is a pastel colored community. Apparently the movie The Truman Show was filmed here.

I actually respect the understated styles.

New Orleans

For us New Orleans was loud, distracting and a little irritating. A sure sign we’re getting old. Our best moments were the mule driven carriage ride through the French Quarter, lots of great history.

We had fun at a Crescent Park Dog Park, which is located along the river. We met some local young people and dogs got to run at the park. We stopped at the nearby restaurant The Joint. The Joints one of those New Orleans restaurants located in the Bywater, which looks a bit sketchy, but the Joint has a national reputation for BBQ.

We bought fish at a fish market, unusual, located across from a Piggly Wiggly.

We parked in Algiers and ferried to New Orleans, fun. We drove through the Garden district. We drank Black and Tans in a British Pub in Algiers. The bar the size of a closet, at least 50 tea pots hanging from its ceiling. Met a young lesbian couple. They were terrible dart throwers.
