2 Go to Idaho Falls.

After one drive around Idaho Falls I had the impression Idaho Falls would fall short as a town if not for the falls and the “Green Belt” walkway around the falls. The town seems poverty stricken when compared to Heber and Park City Utah. But the falls save it from being a squaller of farm workers and clerks. I confess I’m upset my fries were too greasy at a local diner. It tainted my impression.

Back in Heber, Carol and I sat on a patio at a place that sells salads , sandwiches and of course fresh bread. I watched four cars go through the drive-in . Two top-end Range Rovers, a Mercedes and a Ford Expedition,all expensive cars. Carol felt all the blonde well dressed women in the place were rich Mormons. I explained they’re now called Latter Day Saints. Was it the musical that caused the name change? For both of us we’d rather be in this trailer park in Ririe, Idaho with folks with small trailers and friendly smiles than in the rich city, just fits us better. My guess, none of these folks have seen Nomadland.

Heber, what do I do in Heber?

Heber (or Heber City) seems to be part of the Park City ski area. There’s also a railroad here,RV park, and a Nordic Museum. At first I thought this must be some ode to whiteness but then I remembered Nordic skiing and the olympics.

So far we’ve found a barbershop, pet store, shoe store and a Culvers. We always say we won’t go back to Culvers but the lure of concrete ice cream brings us back.

Why Heber? mmmm
