The last night of our trip was spent in the Badlands. We stayed in an old hotel inside the park. One word on hotels , the toilets are too small. Meant to accommodate children they can be a challenge for a tall person. This last one was so small not all of me fit over it at the same time…just saying. Maybe people were smaller in the 1950s. https://www.nps.gov/badl/index.htm
There’s an attractive cluster of small cities in the Black Hills of South Dakota. They include Rapid City, Deadwood, Spearfish and Lead. Some big hotel chains are here in the Black Hills including Hilton, Wyndam , Holiday Inn and so on. There are great drives one can take, refurbished downtown areas, breweries, and with a short drive Mt. Rushmore. And….the Badlands. The Blackhills rated 4 1/2 stars on Trip Advisor. https://www.blackhillsbadlands.com
There are hikes, ski areas and buffalo, if you can find them.
Sleepy will change this soon
If you want a close encounter of the third kind visit the Devil’s Tower.
Our first National monument, the surprise of the trip was the Devil’s Tower. Larger than expected, more impressive than expected, and visited as if it is a national park.
