Tom Sawyers RV in West Memphis

Somehow we forgot to bring the awning in during the night and a gust of wind mangled one brace. With the help of A.I. I tied it down ,and we began calling RV technicians.

Tom Sawyers RV offers little in the way of services. However, Carol got us a spot DIRECTLY ON the Mississippi. I want to feel romantic about being near the mighty Mississippi. The barges with shipping containers remind me this river IS and always will be about commerce.

Entering Beale St. you are hit with music. Great 60’s soul and R&B. The key word is ‘hit.’ It is VERY LOUD MUSIC everywhere !

BEALE STREET IN MEMPHIS

Below: Silky O’Sullivans

Yes, there was a goat inside Silky O’Sullivans. And the BBQ shrimp and BBQ pork egg rolls were delicious.

We took a tour that included Sun Studio where Elvis and Johnny Cash got their start. A lot of talk about Elvis on the tour. Of course there was a live(loud) musician on the tour. He was pretty accomplished, but IT IS Memphis.

Below: The Overton Park Shell, built in 1936, was where Elvis gave his first performance at 19 years old.The year was 1954. The girls in the audience screamed at him. He found their screaming frightening and wondered what he did wrong. He sang That’s All Right” and “Blue Moon of Kentucky.” As an encore they repeated these two songs because they only knew two songs.

We’re parked next to the Mississippi.

Inside they even have an alligator pond.

Fabulous weather for the first two days. Someone said, “This isn’t normal weather for us, enjoy.” Rain is predicted for the next two days.

William J. Clinton Library and Museum

https://www.clintonlibrary.gov

For me the Clinton Library is everything a presidential library should be. It shows the president’s life, it’s a record of the presidency and the president’s accomplishments, it’s an up lifting experience, and also a functional building. It has meeting rooms, a dining hall and a theater. Above all its a work of art.

LITTLE ROCK – NOVEMBER 17: Workers put some final touches on the William J. Clinton Presidential Library during a media preview November 17, 2004 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Little Rock will host the opening ceremony November 17 with guests including former President Clinton, his wife Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), President George W. Bush, and former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter in attendance. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)
