We’re staying at the Douglas Tailwater Campground.(site below)

The campground is about 30 miles east of Knoxville near Sevierville,Tennesse. Sevierville is home of Dolly Parton and Dollywood. Our nearness to Dollywood is accidental. I’ve looked at the Dollywood site and find it wholesome, sweet and family based. There is nothing there for me.

The Foothills Parkway has been in the works for some 75 years andlikely will be another 20 years to completion. Congress authorized the Foothills Parkway as a 72-mile scenic parkway on February 22, 1944. According to National Park Service (2024), the Foothills Parkway was one of seven congressionally mandated parkways and is the only one yet to be completed.
