We’re staying on Roanoke Island in Wanchese,NC.. As most people know the outer banks is a series of coastal islands. In this area there are a plethora of little towns. On Roanoke Island there are the towns of Manteo and Wanchese. Over the bridge to the outer banks are the towns of Nags Head,Kill Devil Hills,Southern Shores, and Duck. That’s just in our small area. Most of the towns are miles of two story beach homes. They have all the fast food chains and ‘authentic’ restaurants you could ask for.
Yes, Roanoke is (was) the sight of the “Lost Colony”. One hundred and seventeen English men, women, and children settled on Roanoke in 1587. When their leader returned from a supply trip in 1590 the settlement was abandoned without a trace. This is a famous and unsolved mystery.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roanoke_Colony

Below: Cooper controls the waves
On the road, we are now in the eastern time zone. We’re amazed that Cooper’s stomach keeps up with the time change and lets us know when its ‘treat time’ 4:00pm.
Across the street from Bayliss boat works in Wanchese, NC is a little place called O’neal’s Sea Harvest. Its place at which fish is processed and it is a small restaurant. O’neal’s only serves one meal, lunch. The fish you eat in this little place was processed the day you eat it, nothing frozen. Workers from the Bayliss factory shipyards eat lunch here everyday.

This guy sat down at out table. We never figured out who he was.
