We’re Going South 2017

We’re Going South, Feb. 2017

We headed south towards warmer weather.  I mean south New Mexico. We started at T or C

and camped at the South Monticello . An interesting thing happened while we were there.

Our pups escaped and ran into a neighbors camp site, a single guy and his cat. They were in his camp 30 seconds as I chased they and yelled an apology . The guy moved to a site on the other side of the campground. Later that day Carol and I walked the dogs around the campground as we usually do. The Camper who moved away from us reported to the Ranger that we stalked him. We also, we my dogs and I, harassed him and his cat so that his cat needed tranquilizers. WE WERE REPORTED ,weird.                                                                          Next we toured Silver City. Always a city with great potential not yet realized.                        Silver City                                                                                                                                                             Little Toad Creek Bar

Three days later we ended up at Rustys RV near Rodeo, NM. Haven’t heard of Rodeo, nether had we.      Also, we had a view of the Chiricahua Mtns

The first 9 pictures are from Utah Bicentennial Highway (95) between Blanding, UT, and Hanksville, UT. One of the most beautiful drives in the world. The highway crosses part of the Glen Canyon Natl Recreation Park. I was stunned.

NOTE: I left my phone on a picnic table in Bluff, Utah. Someone said they would hold it for me.
So, some pics are borrowed because there are views here in Utah you must see .

Below is a fabulous video of Hwy 95, less than 2 minutes.

Traveling Scenic Hwy Utah 12.Having visited Bryce and Zion in the past our goal was to find some out of the way places in Utah. Places we missed on our first trip years ago. We drove the loop below in one day. Touching on Escalate and the edge of Bryce canyon,

Entering Escalante

Civil engineers constructed massive road cuts throughout Utah.

Mark, always at the ready.

Below: This hog back road can be dangerous.

Carol’s video below shows this dangerous road.

Slide to left: A very lucky fellow’s car is being loaded onto a tow truck. This landscape can be distracting and thus dangerous. He went off the road in the one place he would survive the mistake.

Here’s a link to someones 9 day journey through this area, its great. https://engineertoexplore.com/utah-scenic-byway-12-road-trip/
